Summer is just around the corner, and parents are starting to plan for their children’s summer activities. Camps are a great way for kids to explore new activities and make friends. With many summer camps on the North and South Forks of Long Island offering a variety of activities, from sailing and horseback riding to arts and academics, there’s something for every child.

Future Stars Summer Camp

With two East End locations, Future Stars Summer Camp offers campers the ability to choose their own summer adventure! Whether they want to improve their skills at a specialty sports camp, play a range of sports & games at Multi-Sports camp, experiment & create at STEAM camp, or spend their summer doing a little bit of everything, Future Stars is the camp for them. With individual weekly sessions, campers can mix and match our programs to their liking, and can fill their summer with many unique weeks of fun!

The Parrish Art Museum offers an eight week summer camp program for children ages 4 -13 beginning the first week of July and running through the end of August. Camp at the Parrish Art Museum allows children the opportunity to play and create through visual expression. Campers can also experience the culture of the East End with trips and special guest artists. Weekly camps and programs include Visual Arts Camp, Mini Makers Camp (ages 4-5), and Stop Motion Animation Camp.

DAPPLES PONY CAMP

Dapples is our beginner camp level, and riders must be at least four years old to participate. Campers don’t need any prior riding experience, and our goal is for all riders to begin to learn to ride independently through practice, strengthening muscles, and proper technique.

SNOWMAN  9a – 12:30p  |  Five Days per week, Weeks 1-11  |  $1700 per week
Snowman is our intermediate camp level. Riders should be independent at the walk and trot. Riders with strong enough skills at walk and trot can learn to canter.

WHBPAC Summer Camp offers a unique and exciting summer experience for children interested in the performing arts and want to explore and develop their artistic talents. Musical Theatre Camp: Beauty Lou and the Country Beast

Campers are cast on Monday, and by Friday, they are performance-ready with costumes and sets! And when they’re not rehearsing with Missoula Children’s Theatre Directors, campers will take workshops as well as learn all about theatre and other avenues of the arts from WHBPAC’s acclaimed Teaching Artists. The camp culminates with a live performance on Friday at 7pm.

Broadway Bound Dance Intensive

In this 4 day dance intensive, we will help you develop your jazz, ballet, hip hop and tap technique as well as learn choreography to some of Broadway’s most famous songs. This camp is sure to help you hone your dancing skills for those future shows and further your development as a performer. Camp concludes with a final showcase performance at 1:00pm on Thursday.

Tween Theatre Troupe: Cirque Du Sabotage

This camp is designed specifically for the tween actor by the WHBPAC Artistic Staff. Students work with veteran WHBPAC Teaching Artists and get to learn new theatre and performance skills, expand their creativity and hone their craft as an actor. Campers audition on Monday, everyone gets a part in a true ensemble play, and end the week with a full performance for family and friends on our stage. Performance is Friday at 3pm.

Tween Musical Theatre Troupe: Twisted Fairytales

This camp is designed specifically for the tween who loves to create. Students will collaborate together to develop their own version of a fairytale. WHBPAC masterful Teaching Artists will direct campers using direct camper input adding music, movement, costumes and props to help make their twisted fairytale musicals come to life on stage.

A week of creativity and foundation building as we engage in fun projects while learning new methods and techniques of drawing and painting. Campers will gain skills of perspective, proportion and composition, while working with color, light, shape and texture. By the end of the week each camper will create a portfolio of works that will be displayed in an exhibit on the last day of camp. Register early: enrollment is limited to 15 students.

A week of creativity and foundation building as we engage in fun projects while learning new methods and techniques of painting. Campers learn to add color, light, shape, and texture to their works. All projects are appropriate for any skill level, and the teacher works alongside each student. A week of creativity and foundation building as we engage in fun projects while learning new methods and techniques in the use of mixed media.This camp allows students to create a variety of projects while building skills working in painting, drawing, collage, sculpture, printmaking, and assemblage. Students will create an exhibit of their works on the last day of camp. Register early enrollment is limited to 15 students.

Drawing & Painting Fundamentals  |  August 21st – August 25th  |  Full day: 9a – 3p
A week of creativity and foundation building as we engage in fun projects while learning new methods and techniques used in drawing and painting. This week-long Group Performance Camp offers an opportunity to play alongside your peers. All instruments are welcome, especially, electric guitar, bass, drums, vocals, and piano. Explore multiple genres through percussion, full band, and vocal performances. Students should be able to play at least one instrument at an intermediate level, or be able to sing. This is a great camp to try out new forms of music, new instruments, and bond with fellow music lovers. At the end of each camp week, the band performs live!

Star Power Vocal Camp  |  Full day: 9a – 3p

This week-long group vocal camp offers campers an opportunity to sing all their favorite songs along with their peers. The campers work on all aspects of performance, harmonies, mic control, belting, tone, and timing. They will also learn exercises and techniques to help create strong and healthy vocals. They will sing along to tracks as well as acapella. All campers enjoy outdoor play and some arts and crafts related to their performance. At the end of each camp week, the group performs live!

Ukulele Group Camp  |  Full day: 9a – 3p
August 14th – 18th  |  August 28th – September 1st
A creative week learning the basics of the Ukulele, including rhythm, chords and strumming. Add some fun vocals and play along with others, while learning new music and gaining new skills. Open to beginners and beginner/intermediate levels. Students are required to bring their own Ukulele.  There is a group performance at the finish of the camp week, on Fridays.

Pony Camp at Hedgewood Farm in Laurel offers a beautiful way for children to learn about horses and continue their education. You will learn safety zones around horses and on the farm, basic horsemanship, and equine caretaking skills like feeding, bathing and tacking. You can also practice riding skills while riding on one of our experienced school horses.

Long Island Aquarium’s Summer Adventure Days provides hands-on learning and full-on fun for children of all ages during school-year breaks and summer vacation. Separate programs provide age-appropriate learning and activities for children ages 3 – 16.  After care is available from 2p to 5p. Pricing: Add $199 for 1 full week, per child. Budding marine scientists will investigate the aquarium using their 5 senses to learn and understand the animals around us. There’s a whole world to explore…underwater! Participants will explore all the ins and outs of the aquarium. We will explore what it is like to be an aquarist, trainer, ornithologist and more, through activities designed to show your children what it would be like to have a career at an aquarium. Hold a turtle and pet a dragon. Take a ride on our Tour Boat, meet horseshoe crabs, seine for fish in local waters. Your child will visit our butterflies, birds and bugs garden while learning how important their roles are in their own backyard.

Ever wonder what it is like to work at an aquarium? Have you ever wanted to go behind the scenes and see what it takes to care for thousands of animals? This program has participants talk to our fish department staff as they fill you in on their cool projects like breeding fish, propagating coral and how they keep all of the tanks running. The junior aquarist will also  prepare food for our animals and go on a collecting trip, seining for fish and specimens off-site. Kids will also help set up and learn how to care for an aquarium of their own.

Mattituck Sailing Camp is geared for sailors who want to learn how to sail a variety of different types of boats and learn new skills on the water. Run by the Mattituck Yacht Club, sailing camp programs are held daily throughout the summer. Campers will learn to rig and sail sailboats, tie knots, and learn water safety.  All sailors will learn to sail on a variety of different types of boats including: Optis, Sunfish, and 420’s. Sailing instruction and boats will vary based upon the camper’s experience and ability.

Multiple options are available for young sailors including the “season pass” of sailing all summer. Mattituck Yacht Club also offers 2, 3 or 4 week programs to fit in busy summer schedules.

Our Turtle Games Carnival happens every Friday, weather permitting, during which campers take turns running a carnival game and then enjoying the games created by other campers.

This program is for FIRST TIME CAMPERS who are not sure about a full week at camp. In the mini camp, campers will participate in a shorter week. Youth are challenged to develop their skills and knowledge in our numerous activities such as: STEM, kayaking, snorkeling, wilderness skills, back-country cooking, fishing, archery, leadership skills, theater arts, music, multimedia, adventure trail, soccer, and basketball. Each evening has a special event planned including: opening campfires, scavenger hunt, and Turtle Games (Peconic Dunes’ version of color war).

VILLAGE OF EAST HAMPTON

Parking can be tricky, and you must plan and have a valid parking pass for the beach. Beachgoers should keep in mind specific beach rules they should follow to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. 

A valid East Hampton Village parking permit is required for the following Village beaches: Egypt, Georgica, Main, Two Mile Hollow and Wiborg and must be displayed on your vehicle from May 15th through September 15th.

Beach Driving
A Town of East Hampton permit is required to drive on the beach. Please call the Town Clerk’s office at 631-324-4142 for information. 
No vehicles are permitted on Village beaches between 9a and 6p from May 15th through September 15th.  It is the responsibility of the driver to know all restrictions governing beach driving. The Village actively patrols beaches and strictly enforces regulations.

SUFFOLK COUNTY

Green Key Cards can be purchased by Suffolk County residents and non-residents to gain access to beaches and to pay reduced fees for park activities.  A separate permit is required for driving on the beach. The Green Key card is also required to access the online reservation system for camping and marina reservations. 

Residents – $30 each and are good for 3 years.

Discounted Residents – $15 each and are good for 3 years (Active Military, Auxiliary Police, Cert, Handicapped, Junior (under 18), Seniors,Veterans and Volunteers with the appropriate certifications)

Disabled Veterans –  free

Green Key Cards are sold year-round at the following locations: Blydenburgh, Cathedral Pines, Indian Island, Sears Bellows, Smith Point, West Hills, and the West Sayville Parks Operations Office.

The Empire Pass is required to access New York State Park Beaches and provides unlimited day-use vehicle entry. Empire Passes are available for the year, multi-year or lifetime. Instead of paying the vehicle use fee on each visit, simply present your season pass and it waives the fee for day use entry.

VILLAGE OF EAST HAMPTON

Parking can be tricky, and you must plan and have a valid parking pass for the beach. Beachgoers should keep in mind specific beach rules they should follow to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. 

A valid East Hampton Village parking permit is required for the following Village beaches: Egypt, Georgica, Main, Two Mile Hollow and Wiborg and must be displayed on your vehicle from May 15th through September 15th.

Beach Driving

A Town of East Hampton permit is required to drive on the beach. Please call the Town Clerk’s office at 631-324-4142 for information. 

No vehicles are permitted on Village beaches between 9a and 6p from May 15th through September 15th. 

It is the responsibility of the driver to know all restrictions governing beach driving. The Village actively patrols beaches and strictly enforces regulations.

Most town beaches open year round but only for swimming Memorial Day weekend (only on the weekends until mid-June). Parking permits are required at all town beach facilities from February 1st to December 31st. You can purchase at the Parks & Recreation offices, online or mail in an application.  

Presently, only Riverhead residents are allowed to purchase seasonal beach stickers. 

You will need a valid vehicle registration with a Riverhead Town address to purchase a resident permit. 

Seniors – Proof of age, proof of residency

Veterans – Copy of DD214 or vet status, proof of residency

4×4 (Residents only) – Current license, registration, vehicle insurance. Limited to beach access/operation on Sound beaches.

Green Key Cards can be purchased by Suffolk County residents and non-residents to gain access to beaches and to pay reduced fees for park activities.  A separate permit is required for driving on the beach. The Green Key card is also required to access the online reservation system for camping and marina reservations. 

Residents – $30 each and are good for 3 years.

Discounted Residents – $15 each and are good for 3 years (Active Military, Auxiliary Police, Cert, Handicapped, Junior (under 18), Seniors,Veterans and Volunteers with the appropriate certifications)

Disabled Veterans –  free

Green Key Cards are sold year-round at the following locations: Blydenburgh, Cathedral Pines, Indian Island, Sears Bellows, Smith Point, West Hills, and the West Sayville Parks Operations Office.

The Empire Pass is required to access New York State Park Beaches and provides unlimited day-use vehicle entry. Empire Passes are available for the year, multi-year or lifetime. Instead of paying the vehicle use fee on each visit, simply present your season pass and it waives the fee for day use entry.
