HarborFrost in Sag Harbor

HarborFrost is a celebration of winter in Sag Harbor highlighting two extreme elements—fire and ice! Featuring live ice carving demonstrations, ice sculptures along Main Street, live music performances and indoor children’s activities. The festivities culminate with the stunning Fireworks by Grucci display off the end of Long Wharf. There’s something for everyone! Spend the day shopping and dining in Sag Harbor—we are OPEN for business.

Frostbitten Frames and Other Special Treats | Sag Harbor Cinema

The Sag Harbor Cinema will play “Frostbitten Frames” with classic animated shorts on its vitrines throughout the day, along with complimentary “Dreamy” hot cocoa samples inside. The third-floor Green Room Bar will open early at 2p, with live music from 3 to 4p, hot chili and the best fireworks view from the rooftop.

Stop by the local library and have some fun with green screen photos, story time and tours of the newly renovated spaces. And a hot chocolate bar, too!

10a | StoryWalk Trail Hike | Mashashimuet Park and Long Pond Greenbelt
As part of the annual HarborFrost activities, join Friends of the Long Pond Greenbelt for a fun walk for kids of all ages along the StoryWalk Trail in Sag Harbor (about 30 minutes). The more adventurous can continue on for another half hour to see Long Pond and learn about the amazing Long Pond Greenbelt. Meet at the bleachers at Mashashimuet Park on the corner of Main Street and Jermain Avenue in Sag Harbor. Leader: Dai Dayton, 631-745-0689.

11:30a to 5p | Culinary Stroll | Starting at Il Capuccino
Sample some of Sag Harbor’s finest foods on this casual stroll through the village sponsored by the Sag Harbor Hysterical Society. The tour starts at Il Capuccino at 11:30 a.m. with stops along the way at El Taco, Page @63 Main, Vin Sur Vingt and K Pasa. $50 includes dining specialties at each stop. Cash bar. The tour ends with plenty of time for guests to make their way to Long Wharf for the fireworks. Prizes for the best decorated chef’s hat. Noon, 2p, and 3p | Ceremonial Cacao | Dragon Hemp Apothecary
Dragon Hemp Apothecary will welcome guests for a serving of the
Ceremonial Cacao at the top of each hour — at noon, 2 and 3 p.m. A cacao
ceremony has been part of a tradition for various ancient cultures dating back
thousands of years. A ceremonial cacao is very different from a traditional hot
chocolate in that ceremonial grade cacao is a pure Criollo cacao-bean paste that
contains a higher quantity of beneficial and mood-elevating compounds. Criollo
cacao bean is a wild strain not bred for sweetness like most commercial
chocolates and has higher concentrations of Theobromine, serotonin, tryptophan
and many other health-restoring consciousness-altering compounds.6 to 8 p.m.

No stranger to bringing live music to Main Street Sag Harbor, Steve Skoldberg has been playing music on the East End for over 30 years. For many years, he was a regular at favorite watering holes in Sag Harbor and now he returns to Dragon Hemp at 108 Main Street. One of the local open mic organizers, Skoldberg joins and backs up aspiring musicians Tuesday nights at the Sag Harbor Cinema Green Room Bar.

12:30 to 2:30p | Sushi Handroll Making Class | Sen Restaurant
Get out of the cold and stop into Sag Harbor’s favorite Japanese restaurant at 23 Main Street for this fun and immersive sushi handroll making class. Cost is $20 plus tax and tip for kids (veggies) and $30 for adults (fish). Miso soup will also be served, along with the rolls.

Brad Penuel’s engaging personal style shines through every tune as he brings his top drawer musical partners along for the ride with Friday Night Traditional at Kidd Squid Brewing Company, located at 11 Spring Street. One of the founding partners of Hopefully Forgiven, Penuel’s Alabama roots are strongly behind the southern rock, blues and country tunes you’ll hear from this new band.

2p | Ice Breaker Sailing Regatta | Breakwater Yacht Club

2:30p | Ice Carving by Ice Melodies | Long Wharf
The Long-Island based ice carving company Ice Melodies returns to HarborFrost to carve beautiful ice sculptures on Long Wharf. Master carver Richard Daly is a national award-winning ice carving artist and creates a unique and personal experience. With over 200 ice carving competition titles won, including five Gold Medals at the U.S. National Ice Carving Championships, Ice Melodies strives for perfection with every sculpture. In addition, look for smaller ice sculptures throughout the business district.

3 to 4p | Live Music with Telly Karoussos | Green Room Bar @ Sag Harbor Cinema
One of the founding members of the popular musical duo behind Hopefully Forgiven, all Telly Karoussos needs is his guitar, voice and charisma to get audiences up and dancing, foot stomping and clapping along. Come for the music and stay to watch the fireworks from the rooftop bar.

4:20 to 5:20p | Live Music with Sara Mundy | Sen Restaurant
Sara Mundy is best known for playing all over Shelter Island and recently was featured with Nancy Atlas at one of her Fireside Sessions shows at Bay Street Theater. Mundy is a graduate of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. A favorite of other musicians looking for a beautiful voice to harmonize with, Mundy solo is a special treat you don’t want to miss.

4:45p | Fire Dancing by Keith Leaf and His Flaming Friends from Team Fun |Long Wharf
As the sun begins to set, Keith Leaf and His Flaming Friends from Team Fun will perform their sizzling and electrifying show at Windmill Beach near Long Wharf. Each year they bring heat to HarborFrost, always offering an awe-inspiring and unforgettable show.

5p | Open House and Fireworks Viewing Party | Breakwater Yacht Club
Drop by the waterfront Breakwater yacht Club at 51 Bay Street to learn about all the club has to offer, and view the fireworks from one of the most beautiful locations in all of Sag Harbor.

5:30 to 7:30p | Hot Soups and Live Music | Old Whalers’ Church
Come in from the cold for a warm whalers’ welcome! Hot soups and live music at Old Whalers’ Church, 44 Union Street. $10 and takeout is available.                            

5:30p | World-Famous Fireworks by Grucci | Long Wharf
The world-renowned pyrotechnic artists are back on Long Wharf in Sag Harbor to light up the winter sky with their extravagant and unique fireworks display over the harbor. Co-sponsored by Propane Depot.com and Tom O’Donoghue Builders.

6 to 7p | Live Music with Friday Night Traditional and Special Guests | Kidd Squid Brewing Company
Brad Penuel and his band Friday Night Traditional return to the stage at Kidd Squid, this time with special guests along to join the party.

6 to 8 p | The Mercer Quintet | The Church
Drawing from a multitude of influences including Hip-hop, Avant-garde Jazz,
Contemporary Jazz and Folk music from around the globe, The Mercer Quintet
will play live at The Church, 48 Madison Street, inviting the audience to enjoy a
preview of new pieces inspired by known experiences and curiosity of the
unknown.
