Rites of Spring Celebration

Rites of Spring is the annual LongHouse celebration of the new season. The garden will be blooming with spring flowers—nearly a million daffodils plus cherry trees, tulips, and magnolias. There is much to be discovered, with new works of art and many “visitors’ favorites” relocated on the grounds.

All visitors – children and adults – are invited to assist Artist Maren Hassinger in creating Monuments, her site-specific sculptures, by weaving branches from our gardens. Hassinger’s work explores the subjects of movement, family, love, nature, the environment, consumerism, identity, and race in her artistic practice. She will be with us both Saturday and Sunday (included with admission). Please bring your own pruning shears to help Maren cut twigs for the weaving.

The event is finished.
