Museums on Eastern Long Island boast 100’s of years of local history. Special events and social gatherings are held throughout the year on the North Fork, South Fork, Shelter Island and Riverhead Area.
Visit museums that explore Native American heritage, or catch a glimpse of the rich whaling history of Long Island at the Sag Harbor Whaling & Historical Museum or the East End Seaport Museum in Greenport. There are also numerous children’s museums available which offer exhibits and amazing hands-on displays to help children learn and have fun.
Come explore the museums of the East End where you’ll find hidden treasures and unexpected surprises. The Parrish Art Museum has grown to encompass a distinguished collection of American art from the nineteenth century to the present, with a particular focus on the art and artists of Long Island’s East End. Throughout the year the Museum features changing exhibitions of modern and contemporary art as well as films, lectures, performances, workshops, and educational programs for children and school groups.
Most townships also have their own local art and historical museums featuring changing exhibits and programs.
