Artists Reception for OPPOSITES ATTRACT

William Ris Gallery is celebrating its 9th summer on the East End of Long Island. Since arriving the gallery has maintained its decades old model of offering an ever-changing and always original collection of work.

The first show of the 2024 season is OPPOSITES ATTRACT featuring paintings by SUE BARRASI, EDWARD JOSEPH & LAURA STROH.

The opening reception will be an opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy this diverse collection.

NEW EXHIBITION | Carmen Herrera: Estructuras Monumentales
Parrish Art Museum, Water Mill
MAY 25–DECEMBER 8, 2024

The Carmen Herrera: Estructuras Monumentales features four large-scale sculptures in red, blue, yellow, and green by Cuban American artist Carmen Herrera (1915–2022). The four works installed in the Museum's South Meadow—Angulo Azul (2017), Angulo Amarillo (2017), Estructura Verde (1966/2018), and Gemini (Red) (1971/2019)—are part of Herrera’s series Estructuras, which she initially envisioned as sketches and paintings in the 1960s.

New Sculptures Arriving for REFLEXTIONS RIVERHEAD

The Long Island Aquarium and New York Marine Rescue Center will be holding a press conference on Monday, June 10th at 12:30pm at the Long Island Aquarium - 431 E. Main St., Riverhead, to unveil a custom-built fourteen foot Sea Turtle Sculpture to coincide with the launch of the United States Postal Service’s Protect Sea Turtle stamps.

Long Island’s East End is hosting new art exhibits this summer. At Reflextions Riverhead: Art in the Park, enjoy a 14-foot sea turtle sculpture by Bryan DeLuca and Eli Fishman. Unveiled recently at the Long Island Aquarium to coincide with World Sea Turtle Day, the sculpture will be on display in Grangebel Park for all events. LongHouse Reserve in East Hampton will showcase over 100 eco-friendly furniture pieces by Italian designer Paola Lenti, featuring natural woods and rich textures. Open to the public until the end of September. Finally, at Landcraft Gardens on the North Fork, admire Cuban-American artist Jorge Pardo’s vibrant ceramic tile sculptures, exhibited every Friday and Saturday until October 26th.

As June arrives on the East End, we roll right into one of the biggest staples that the North Fork has to offer: the Mattituck Lions Club Strawberry Festival! Now in its 69th year, this festival isn’t just a celebration of summer; it’s a beacon of support for the community, raising funds for over 57 local organizations and nonprofits. From June 12th to the 16th, the festival promises days filled with laughter, joy, and of course, strawberries galore!
