Stroll Up and Down Love Lane

Begin your visit in Mattituck walking along the charming Love Lane, set in the heart of the North Fork. Enjoy breakfast at Love Lane Kitchen, open seven days a week. This quaint cafe known for their upscale comfort meals, house-roasted coffee, and daily specials. Try their Pastrami Hash and Eggs or Stuffed French Toast stuffed with cheesecake filling and topped with a warm berry compote.

Interested in planning a picnic? Visit the Village Cheese Shop for a wide selection of domestic and European cheeses. The cheese shop also serves Fondue al Fresco in their picnic-style outdoor garden. Or, walk across the street to Lombardi’s Love Lane Market known for their rustic food menu that features ingredients from several local purveyors. Favorites from their ‘Local Loves’ menu include Fiesty Acres Quail Eggs, North Fork Chocolate Company, Charissa Spices, The Farm Beyond, and Holy Schmitt’s Horseradish.

Visit the Farm Stands

There are so many excellent farmstand across the north fork that sell everything from local produce to flowers, coffee, and cheese. 8 Hands Farm in Cutchogue is a well known sustainable family farm that is perfect for visiting for a true “Farm to Fork” experience. Enjoy a guided farm tour and pick up some vegetables, prepared foods, and some great gifts for each other.

Browder’s Birds in Mattituck is a sustainable and certified organic poultry and livestock farm that is well known for their pasture-raised certified organic chicken and eggs. Visit their super cute farm stand on the weekends. If you visit in wintertime, a great purchase is their Cotswold Blanket in a variety of colors, also sold online.

Catapano Dairy Farm is a fun, friendly farm to visit for some delicious goat cheese and other goat’s milk products. Come visit and try a goat yoga class on select days, followed by a meet and greet with the goats.

Hubbard’s Farm Stand is a very photogenic farm stand off the main stretch on the back roads of Aquebogue. Their adorable pumpkin display is a must for photos during the autumn months. They also have a wide variety of farm fresh produce, and flowers.

Sang Lee Farms in Peconic off of County Road is a certified organic farm known for their variety of produce including carrots, zucchini, garlic, specialty herbs, and so much more. A must try is their homemade soup as well as their dressings. Sang Lee Farm also offers plant medicine workshops during the summer.

Wine Tastings Across the North Fork

For the perfect romantic getaway to the North Fork, we recommend visiting the stunningly diverse vineyards and wineries, each with their own character and unique wine varieties. Bedell Cellars in Cutchogue is a picturesque family owned winery that hosts a number of events during the summer season including live music, and a sunset cruises. Share a glass of First Crush Red 2020 or do a tasting in one of their expertly appointed tasting rooms.

Kontokosta Winery is a beautiful waterfront winery overlooking the Long Island Sound in Greenport. They are considered to be a bucket list destination for visitors to the North Fork. Notable wines to try include the 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, and 2016 Cabernet Franc Reserve.

Macari Vineyards in Mattituck is a very popular destination for local and visiting couples. Enjoy a seated tastings paired with cheese and charcuterie on their covered deck and Private Barrel Cellar. The winery features an impressive collection of vineside tasting tents, Bergen Road Bungalows, that will be opening up again during the early autumn.

Sannino Vineyard in Cutchogue is a romantic Italian-inspired vineyard, ideal for couples to visit for a taste of true North Fork hospitality and luxury. Visit their Tasting Room overlooking the vineyards and wine making facilities. During the summer, try their Watermelon Mint Wine Slushy, White Fruit Sangria, or of course a wine flight paired with bites from their extensive snacking menu.

Take a Leisurely Boat Tour

Layla Sailing based in Greenport is a highly regarded, female owned and operated charter sailing company that treats every guest like family. Sit and relax on their comfy beanbag chairs under the sails while sipping a sparkling rosé. A sunset charter makes for a most romantic activity while visiting the North Fork and is a must do for anyone who loves to sail.

For plenty of fun and thrill, check out Peconic Water Sports based in Southold. They offer a variety of water sport activities from kite boarding to water skiing, perhaps making this the perfect opportunity to try something new! Fishing charters and sunset charters are also available for your leisure.

Stroll Through Flower Fields

Lavender By the Bay has two location: Calverton and East Marion. Their immensely picturesque lavender farm and fields offer the perfect photo ops during the mid summer. During your visit, purchase fresh bundles of lavender, dried lavender, sachets, bath & body products, and other gifts. Find them on social media to know when exactly their lavender fields are at their peak season.

North Fork Flower Farm in Orient is the perfect place to pick up a dazzling floral arrangement for that special someone. They also host a variety of floral workshops including a Bouquet Making Workshop, and Natural Dyeing Workshop.

North Fork Sunflower Maze in Mattituck usually opens for the season in late July. Touring the sunflower maze offers a unique opportunity to wander about these peaceful fields. A must is arriving about a half hour before the sunset for the most incredible photo opportunities.

Sip Local Beers at the Breweries

Greenport Harbor Brewery and Restaurant in Peconic as well as their location in Greenport are popular destinations for couples to taste their variety of beers. Their cans have very unique designs reminiecent of the North Fork seaside. They also have a wide selection of limited releases like Chocolate Covered Cherry Pie, Reduction Imperial Red Ale, and Double Duck Porter. Tastings flights are offered on weekdays at their Peconic location only.

Jamesport Farm Brewery on Sound Avenue in Riverhead is a pet-friendly microbrewery and tasting room. The brewery features a number of music and weekly events. For the summer, take your loved one to see a Movie Under the Stars or out for Comedy Night.

Peconic Country Brewing, one of the newest breweries that has opened on the North Fork, is located on Main Street in Riverhead. The brewery brews on location complete with a full kitchen and giant deck overlooking the Peconic River. Come in for ‘Hoppy Hour’ Monday-Thursday 4-6pm before going out to see a show. Hoppy Hour features $5 pints and $6 special apps.

Share an Ice Cream Sundae

Snowflake Ice Cream Shoppe is a fun retro ice cream shop that is very popular with the North Fork locals. There are rotating flavors of the week, in addition to fun creations like the Banana Boat, hand dipped ice cream, and novelties like ice cream sandwiches. If you brought Fido on your trip, Snowflake even has treats just for dogs!

Magic Fountain is a landmark ice cream and dessert spot on Main Road in Mattituck They dish up their famous housemade ice cream in a variety of flavors. They are also well known for their outrageously delicious ice cream cakes.

Ralph’s Italian Ice is a popular destination for soft-serve ice cream sundaes, sorbet, and milkshakes in the village of Greenport. After enjoying your ice cream, stroll together to Greenport Harbor and watch the boats sail in with a sunset backdrop.

Spend a Cozy Night at a North Fork Bed and Breakfast

The Coffey House Bed & Breakfast is a beloved romantic and restful retreat in East Marion, within an easy driving distance from the Orient Point Ferry. This charming bed and breakfast offers beautifully decorated rooms, each with a full private bath, and a full recreation room downstairs with a pool table, television, and snack/refreshment bar. They are also very well known for their delicious homemade breakfasts.
