The first signs of autumn in the North Fork are the rows of bountiful farm stands selling endless varieties of squash, pumpkins, freshly baked pies, and everything apple cider. Explore the rows of apple fields, stroll through the corn mazes, and pumpkin patches. 

So, it is time for you to discover the best fall food on the North Fork. Leap into the season and create your own fall food tour across the North Fork. We have curated some of the top fall farm stands on the North Fork, from Riverhead and out to Greenport. 

1760 Homestead Farm

1760 Homestead Farm on Sound Avenue in Riverhead offers a continuous supply of autumn baked goods. Their most famous pies include the grape pie, shoo fly pie and brownie pecan pie, a must for celebrating the fall season on the North Fork. Fall is pie season in fact! To note, they will be offering pie flights on select weekends up until Christmas.

Every Sunday from 12-4pm, 1760 Homestead Farm showcases farm produce through sauces, salads, and soups for take away or to enjoy in the picnic area.

Briermere Farms

At the gateway to your fall food tour of the North Fork is Briermere Farms on Sound Avenue in Riverhead. Brieremere’s is famous for their wide range of produce, flowers, apple cider, and baked goods, especially their pies.

Fall on the North Fork always means a visit to this farm stand! Popular pies to complement any autumn gathering include Cranberry-Pear, Peach Raspberry, Pumpkin, and Boysenberry. They also have a variety of cream pies such as Chocolate Cream, Cherry Cream, and Blueberry Cream. 

Please note that all sales and pick ups are done outside on the farmstand. 

Bayview Market & Farms

Discover plenty of local, fresh fruits and vegetables, and flowers at the local farm stand, Bayview Market & Farms off of Main Road in Riverhead. They sell fresh, locally grown produce through late fall with specialty items such as meats, dairy, and sauces that rotate throughout the season. 

This six-generation farm sells everything from potatoes, pumpkins, cauliflower, carrots, pears, turnips, and more. In addition, if you are in Calverton, Laurel, or Mattituck, you can stop by any one of their farm markets for a bounty of peak season fresh produce to take home for your autumn feast. 

Country View Farm Stand

Country View Farm Stand on Main Road in Southold is a must stop during your fall food tour of the North Fork. Their pies are baked fresh daily, and they also sell fresh brown eggs, Long Island duck, asparagus, and sugar snap peas. 

Pick up local vegetables at this third generation North Fork farm stand like cauliflower, hot peppers from Kevin’s pepper patch, as well as Claudia’s wide variety of local refrigerated soups like Indian Dal and Vegetable, and Ginger & Rice Noodle Soup. 

Hallock’s Cider Mill

This beloved North Fork farmers market, Hallock’s Cider Mill, is located on Main Road in Jamesport. They are a family owned country roadside market that has been a fixture on the East End for generations. Come stop in for all your fall food needs, including homemade pies, homemade jams, cheese, soups, chowders, their own local honey, gift baskets, their own farm fresh eggs, their famous crumb cake, and so much more. All in addition, most of their produce sold at the Cider Mill is organic.

Current hours are 9am-5pm seven days a week. Hallock’s Cider Mill closes for the season in December, and reopens usually in early May. 

Helen’s Flower Farm

A favorite for families during the autumn months is a visit to Helen’s Flower Farm in Riverhead. Located on Union Avenue, this interactive farm is a great spot to visit with the family for plenty of autumn family fun.

There to greet you is a pumpkin farm, corn maze, a wide variety of flowers, baked goods, and so much more. You can easily spend hours at Helen’s Flower Farm, exploring the maze and pumpkin patch, followed by shopping their baked goods, including their wide variety of freshly baked fruit pies. 

Their farmstand remains open until Thanksgiving Eve, and reopens in the spring. 

North Fork Roasting Company

North Fork Roasting Company is well known for their fall inspired coffee beverages. Exclusive for autumn is the Dirty Pumpkin Chai, Caramel Apple Latte, and of course the Pumpkin Spice Latte. 

Their chai is made in house by simmering whole milk with chai, cinnamon, nutmeg and honey. North Fork Roasting Company gives it a seasonal spin by adding our pumpkin purée with fall spices and then they make it dirty by pouring a shot of espresso in.

The Caramel Apple Latte is special thanks to their homemade apple caramel syrup. It’s just like taking a bite into a caramel apple and can be made with any of our alternative milks. Created by barista and shop manager Claudia La Du.

Lastly, the homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte is back for the fall season! This beloved harvest beverage is crafted with espresso, pumpkin spice, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, honey, and most importantly real pumpkins!

North Fork Roasting Co. on Main Road is open seven days a week from 7am-4pm. They have a sister store in Westhampton Beach on Main Street, open Thursday-Monday from 7am-4pm. 

North Fork Chocolate Company

An autumn destination staple for chocolates, gifts, and so much more is North Fork Chocolate Company off of Main Road in Aquebogue. All of their chocolates are made on the premises from scratch and make for the perfect local fall gift, straight from the North Fork!

Some additional great fall dessert options to try include their Belgian Liege Waffles. These are made fresh to order, and you can top yours with a variety of toppings. They also sell homemade ice cream, fudge, and individual sized gourmet desserts like Granny Apple Caramel Pie, and S’mores Pie.

Patty’s Berries and Bunches

This North Fork farmstand in Mattituck on Sound Avenue is a female-owned farmstand, offers a U-Pick visiting experience, as well as produce, flowers, and a variety of onsite activities. Discover many of your favorite autumn foods including seasonal ice cream, cider baked goods, jams, honey, and more. This is also the perfect stop for gorgeous floral bunches or ornamental pieces for your fall centerpiece table.  

Patty’s Berries and Bunches is currently open daily from 9am-6pm. They are also pet friendly, though to note that pets are not allowed in the picking rows. 

Rottkamp’s Fox Hollow Farms

Rottkamp’s Fox Hollow Farm in Baiting Hollow on Sound Avenue is perfect for visiting for the whole family to pick pumpkins and explore the fields, while shopping for fresh, local produce. You may also see a local food truck parking at the farm! The pumpkin picking field usually closes the last week of October before Halloween.

If you decide to visit just before the beginning of the autumn season on the North Fork, Rottkamp’s has a stunning sunflower maze to explore. The maze is usually open until mid September.
